Carbon CREW: Turning Empowering Action & Advocacy for Climate Change into Student Service

November 3, 2025 at 7:00 PM ET

Join Carbon CREW Project for a compelling presentation with Darr Reilly, Jo DeVincenzi, and Sheila Peiffer, co-founders of Carbon CREW Project, as they introduce their movement and mission. Students will learn how to engage in meaningful climate action, earn volunteer hours, and contribute to systemic change by reducing household carbon footprints.

Through this session, attendees will discover how Carbon CREW fosters leadership, climate literacy, and community impact. Speakers will also share how student volunteers can receive service hour credit, support from letters of recommendation, and development as climate advocates in their schools and communities.

Attendees will leave inspired to build their own CREWs, lead conversations, and drive climate solutions at the local level.

Meet the speakers:

Unified by their vision, Darr, Jo, and Sheila transformed what began as an informal “environmental book club” into Carbon CREW—a structured, action-oriented community movement for reducing emissions and regenerating our planet.

Darr Reilly

Darr Reilly (Dorothy Reilly, M.Arch) is an environmental activist whose core interests include global warming mitigation, health, and wellness.  Through Carbon CREW, Darr helps guide communities in creating practical, realistic climate action plans rooted in everyday decisions and collective accountability.

Jo DeVincenzi

Josephine “Jo” DeVincenzi, a former educator, brings to Carbon CREW her passion for learning and group dynamics.  She often likens each CREW gathering to the start of a new school year—full of possibility, inquiry, and growth.

Sheila Peiffer

Sheila Peiffer has long held the conviction that personal choices ripple outward to society at large.  She champions the design and adoption of Personal Climate Action Plans (PCAPs) as a hold-in-hands bridge between individual responsibility and global impact.
