Sara Kaufman || NSHSS Collegiate Council Member, PARSE Founder, Johns Hopkins University student
Sara Kaufman is a multifaceted dreamer and doer. She is a Charles R. Westgate Scholar in Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, where she is majoring in biomedical engineering with a minor in the Writing Seminars (creative writing) Program.
Sara is a budding researcher and a poet. Her scientific interests revolve around stem cells and systems for animal-free drug testing. You can also find her volunteering in the Johns Hopkins Pediatric ICU and Maternity Unit. These experiences provide her with a unique perspective on what it means to be an innovator, and she hopes to share her passions with the world. In doing so, Sara has reached a global audience. She is a published author & scientist and has been granted a US patent for one of her inventions. Sara has been named a Coca-Cola Scholar, Davidson Fellow, NCWIT Aspirations in Computing National Winner, Live Más Scholar, Disney Dreamer, Dr. Bart Kamen Scholar, and Broadcom MASTER.
However, Sara’s passions transcend the laboratory. She is an especially staunch believer in educational accessibility, a conviction that has inspired her to help students around the world achieve their academic goals. As she continues to grow, she looks forward to advancing scientific knowledge, creative pursuits, and global service.
