Designed for NSHSS high school students, this interactive webinar introduces careers in audiology, speech-language pathology, and related CSD professions through the voices of current students and early career professionals. You’ll find out what CSD careers are, who CSD professionals work with and where, and how these careers combine science, communication, and helping others to make a real-world impact. Hear directly from students as they share their personal journeys into the field of CSD.

Panelists will talk about what inspired them to choose CSD, the paths they’ve taken, and what they’re currently doing. It’s an authentic look at the many ways a CSD career can take shape. Throughout the 60-minute session, attendees will engage through live polls and Q&A, for the opportunity to ask questions directly and explore their own interests.

Tiffany Marsh is a third-year Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) student at Towson University, with plans to specialize in pediatric audiology. She is a veteran of both the United States Marine Corps and Navy, with 12 years of combined service. Her research focuses on the long-term impacts of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs. She currently serves as the Maryland Student State Officer for Audiology for the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA). Through her military background, clinical training, advocacy, and research, she brings a well-rounded and service-driven perspective to preparing for a career in healthcare. 

Andi Reuda (They/Them)

Graduate Researcher

Andi Reuda (they/them) is a first-year graduate research assistant at California State University, Long Beach in their Speech-Language Pathology program. They are currently a part of the National NSSLHA Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action (IDEA) Workgroup and have presented their research at ASHA and CSHA. Their research centers around increasing accessibility and cultural competency within the gender affirming vocal therapy (GAVT) field. From helping run no-cost/low-cost one-day workshops to months long GAVT programs, they believe advocating for clients to get access to services is required part of being an ethical clinician.

Anna Soares, MS (She/Her/Hers)

Anna Soares is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Florida. She received her BS in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and her MS in Neuroenginneering from the Santos Dumont Institute, both in Brazil. During her master’s training, she developed and implemented an intervention protocol integrating speech-language therapy with transcranial electrical stimulation to examine its effects on social communication and language development in children with autism. At USF, her doctoral work continues to center on language development, with a current emphasis on validating a screening tool designed to identify risk for Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) in bilingual children. She is an active member of the Bilingual Language and Literacy Lab, which focuses on advancing equitable assessment and intervention practices for bilingual children at risk of academic difficulties. 

In addition to her research, Anna serves as President of the Student Association for Research & Teaching in CSD (START-CSD), where she works to strengthen collaboration among students, faculty, and the broader community. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to cultivating inclusive academic spaces, promoting professional development, and fostering meaningful connections that enrich both scholarship and community engagement. 

Gabrielle Howard, MA, CCC-SLP (She/Her)

Early Career Professional (ECP)

Gabrielle Howard is a pediatric speech-language pathologist in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition, she serves as Lead Speech-Language Pathologist at her practice. She graduated with her bachelor's degree from Hampton University and her master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Gabrielle is an active member in the CSD community. She is a member of ASHA and serves as the Early Career Professional Representative of the Government Affairs and Public Policy Board. Gabrielle is also a mentor for students studying CSD through the Hampton University Turks and Caicos Islands study abroad program. She is an ASHA Distinguished Early Career Professional and an aspiring PhD student with goals of becoming a translational researcher and professor.
