Forest Young is a driven and accomplished pianist who, alongside his twin brother Victor, became Utah’s first-ever winners of the Senior Piano Group at the 2025 MTNA Piano Duet Competition. Their success continued as they earned the Gold Award at the 7th WPTA Finland International Piano Competition, won First Prize at the AVIMC, and received an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in January 2026.
In the classroom, Forest stands out with a 36 ACT score, 14 passed AP exams, and a 4.0 unweighted GPA. Through the University of Utah’s High School University Program, he also earned college credits in five subjects.
Beyond music and academics, Forest competed in the 2025 iGEM— the world’s largest synthetic biology competition—held in Paris. Their project earned a Gold Medal, First Runner-Up (World Rank #2), and four individual awards in the high school division.
Forest has volunteered for more than seven years by performing music for care center patients, retirees and the public. He also uses his ASL skills to support and communicate with members of the deaf community. As an active ambassador for NSHSS and the Congressional App Challenge, he has demonstrated strong leadership.
