Cilena Mathieu
Cilena Mathieu is a High School educator in Lethbridge Alberta. For the past 4 years she has been teaching grade 9 science, Physics and Astronomy at the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. In 2021 she started up the LCI STEAM TEAM and in 2024 she developed a new LCI Space Program with one of her colleagues and created a new Alberta High School Space Exploration curriculum.
During the school year you will find Cilena organizing international student trips to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, convincing colleagues to attend the SEEC conference at the Johnson Space Center in Houston with her, and taking students to STEAM opportunities all around Alberta.
NSHSS is providing five (5) $1,000 grants to enhance STEAM-related activities, innovation, and classroom excellence for teachers in a STEAM field. Funds may be used for supplies, materials, field trips or other resources to enhance the delivery of their courses.
