Isis Chatman

Born and raised in Homewood, Pittsburgh, Isis L. Chatman’s early life was marked by significant adversity, including parental addiction, abuse, and relentless bullying. These traumatic experiences led her to a point of despair at just 14 years old. Despite losing her father and uncle to drug overdoses and surviving abusive relationships—including one that left her homeless and deeply broken—Isis found healing through faith, family, and friendship. A single mother raising her son alone, she began to understand that her rage and pain stemmed from a deeply wounded soul. Through resilience and restoration, she transformed her pain into purpose and now serves as a powerful testament to what is possible when healing takes root.

Today, Isis is a devout Christian, a Deacon in her church, and a dedicated wife and mother. She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh, a Strength-Based Family Worker Credential from Temple University, and multiple certifications in counseling and case management. With over 20 years of experience in social services, she has been recognized in Who’s Who In Black Pittsburgh and appeared on the Lynn Hayes Freeland Show. In 2005, Isis founded Ruth’s Way, Inc., an Achievement Consulting Agency for Adolescent Girls, to empower young women facing their own life challenges. Through this work, she remains committed to showing girls that no matter their circumstances, they can create a successful and fulfilling future.
