Shania Valentine
Shania Valentine is a Diné educator and doctoral student committed to strengthening educational experiences for Indigenous students and diverse communities. She currently serves in Page Unified School District in Page, Arizona, where she partners with K-12 teachers to support instructional growth, student engagement, and culturally responsive practices across classrooms.
Shania holds a Master’s degree in Indigenous Education and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at Northern Arizona University, along with graduate studies in Educational Leadership. Her work is grounded in the belief that education is deeply connected to identity, community, and place. Drawing from her experience as a high school English teacher, AVID educator, and department leader, she now designs and facilitates professional learning that helps educators create more inclusive, meaningful learning environments for their students.
Her research focuses on Indigenous education, narrative inquiry, and place-based learning, exploring how students’ stories, cultural knowledge, and relationships to community shape their experiences in school. She is especially passionate about bridging research and practice in ways that directly impact classrooms and empower both educators and students.
Shania is driven by a commitment to reciprocity and to serving the community that shaped her. She hopes to continue advancing educational systems that honor Indigenous knowledge and create opportunities for students to see themselves reflected in their learning and their futures.
