Overwhelmed? How to Manage Stress, Pressure, and Expectations in High School is a 45-minute NSHSS webinar designed to help students take back control during one of the most demanding times in their lives.
Led by NSHSS Fellow Claire Kirsch, this session goes beyond general mental health advice and focuses on what students are actually experiencing day to day: academic pressure, social expectations, packed schedules, and the constant feeling of needing to “keep up.” Together, we’ll break down why stress builds, how it impacts focus and confidence, and what students can realistically do to manage it.
Participants will learn simple, practical strategies they can use immediately to handle stress in the moment, avoid burnout during busy periods, and build habits that support long-term resilience. The session also emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, connection, and knowing when and how to ask for support.
This isn’t about being perfect or eliminating stress altogether. It’s about giving students the tools to navigate pressure more effectively, feel more confident in their ability to handle challenges, and move through high school with greater balance and clarity.
Students will leave feeling more equipped, more in control, and more prepared for what’s ahead.
