Brandon Lin
Brandon Lin is a sophomore at Aragon High School in San Mateo, California. As a passionate sustainability activist, he volunteers with the nonprofit Peninsula Precious Plastics and serves as the president and founder of the Aragon Peninsula Precious Plastics Club. Through this club, he educates fellow students on environmental issues and raises awareness about climate change.
His commitment to sustainability inspired him to launch The ReCap Project in 2023—a program focused on collecting clean medical plastic waste from clinics and repurposing it into useful products. To date, Brandon has gathered 1,500 pounds of plastic, equivalent to nearly 550,000 individual items. His efforts span thirty clinics across three health systems in the San Francisco Bay Area, working closely with medical assistants, phlebotomists, and pharmacists to collect recyclable plastic waste.
Leading this initiative has allowed Brandon to strengthen his leadership and communication skills while making a meaningful impact in his community. Looking ahead, he plans to grow The ReCap Project further and continue learning about the threats facing the planet.
