Josiah Young
Josiah Young is an alumnus of Hickory Ridge High School in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. In high school, Josiah was heavily involved in Hickory Ridge’s Career and Technical Education program, beginning with his first leadership role as the freshman representative for the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism.
Josiah went on to serve in other leadership roles, including his school’s DECA chapter’s Vice President of Community Service, Vice President of Special Events, and eventually co-president of the DECA Chapter. As a 4-year DECA member, Josiah achieved 1st place for two consecutive years at the NC DECA Career Development Conference in Sports & Entertainment Marketing, and this past spring, he medaled as a Top-10 Finalist at the DECA International Career Development Conference in the category of Sports & Entertainment Marketing in Orlando, Florida. Josiah was also inducted into the Hickory Ridge High School DECA Hall of Fame (2023). Josiah is a Morehead-Cain scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and studying at the Kenan-Flagler Business School.
The NSHSS-DECA Scholarship awards high school juniors and seniors who are DECA members and who intend to pursue a college major in marketing, finance, hospitality, or business.
