Kyla Hort
Kyla Mort is a writing student at the University of Victoria in Canada. She was born on unceded traditional territories of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Matsqui, and Semiahmoo First Nations, what is now colonially known as Langley, British Columbia. She is of mixed descent with English, Scottish, Indian, Palestinian, and Chinese heritage. Her diverse upbringing has sparked her passion for social justice advocacy and has encouraged her to dedicate her life to continuous learning. In high school, she spearheaded anti-racism initiatives, both year-round and for Black History Month. She has also volunteered with various organizations and continues to provide joy and friendship to children facing blood disorders and cancer in British Columbia. You can find her outdoors hiking, playing soccer, or reading on a beach. She has a love for travelling and meeting new people. She uses her voice, pen, and paper to share the stories of her intricate, diverse, and wonderful life.
