Lauren Elie
Lauren Elie, a 2021 graduate of Memorial High School, is pursuing her college education at the University of Texas at Austin, double majoring at McCombs School of Business and Plan II Honors. Elie is co-founder of the non-profit Petal Power (formerly Flower Power) based in Houston, Texas. The organization salvages flowers and offers them as random acts of kindness to residents at shelters, senior centers, and veteran's hospitals, and also to public servants. Petal Power was founded by Lauren when she was 13-years old with the mission to brighten people’s days. Today, hundreds of volunteers pick up and deliver flowers from leftover event centerpieces to senior communities, Ronald McDonald House, rehab centers, and teen and family shelters throughout Texas. Elie is the district 6A-17 Girl's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year and has won numerous other volleyball and civic honors. She is a triplet. Her brothers are also accomplished athletes and fellow Congressional Award Winners.
