Robert Kong

Robert Kong is a senior at Phillips Academy Andover and a student researcher whose interests center on human-centered artificial intelligence, connected health, and sustainable intelligent systems. His work explores how AI can support human decision-making and expand access to beneficial technologies in real-world settings. His projects span AI adoption in smart-building HVAC systems, sensor-informed AI psychotherapy, and wearable IMU-based strength-training monitoring. He is also interested in the ethical and social dimensions of AI, including trustworthy systems, human-AI interaction, and responsible technology use.

Beyond research, Robert is the founder of TechSpaces Education, a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to free STEM, coding, and AI education. Through TechSpaces, he has helped develop educational programs, workshops, open-access learning resources, and volunteer-led initiatives for students around the world. He is also the author of Kiki the Hamster Codes Her Own Way, an illustrated introduction to coding for children with different learning needs. In addition, he has created technology-repair guides and educational media used by more than 100,000 people.

Robert is an avid speedcuber, rower, and educator who enjoys building communities around learning. He hopes to continue combining research, engineering, teaching, and service to create technologies and educational opportunities that are both innovative and inclusive
