Laurel Currie
Mrs. Laurel Truelove Currie is a mathematics instructor at Pitt County Schools Early College High School in Winterville, North Carolina. She is the adviser of the National Honor Society and STEM Club at PCSECHS. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and mathematics education from East Carolina University and her Master of Education degree from the University of Georgia. She has worked as a classroom teacher for 12 years and loves bringing the curriculum to life for her students. She is also a dedicated grant writer in order to provide students educational opportunities outside of the classroom.
Experiential learning programs can stimulate academic inquiry by promoting interdisciplinary learning, civic engagement, career development, cultural awareness, leadership, and other professional and intellectual skills. NSHSS is giving three (3) high school educators $1,000 grants to help provide experiential opportunities to their students and classrooms.
