Merri Blankenship
Merri Blankenship is the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Teacher and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Adviser at Trion High School. She has been a teacher and adviser for 12 years and loves allowing her students to grow as leaders through FCCLA. She looks forward to taking students to the National Leadership Conference in Denver, Colorado, this summer, where they will compete in FCCLA STAR Events. Mrs. Blankenship has earned New Teacher of the Year for GA FCCLA, and her FCCLA chapter has earned the State News Award and Honor Roll with Distinction for GA FCCLA through their participation in Region, State, and National Events, competitions, and community service projects. THS FCCLA has been an extremely active Career, Technical Student Organization (CTSO), and they can't wait to continue building leaders in their community through FACS and FCCLA.
Clubs and extracurricular activities allow students to develop leadership skills and find ways to contribute meaningfully to their community. Club advisors and sponsors often support these clubs with their own funds or through fundraising activities. To support our outstanding educators and the clubs they oversee, NSHSS is giving two (2) high school educators a $500 grant to help provide additional opportunities to their student clubs.
