Emma Shakner
Emma Shakner is the former President of the Kalamazoo Central High School Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) chapter, where she won her district conference and competed at the State level. She has participated in Model U.N. and her high school French club. She is a former U.S. Figure Skating member who competed nationally in Synchronized Skating. She has volunteered for the Kalamazoo Rescue Project, Communities in Schools, and the Kalamazoo Nature Center and is a part-time Barista at Kung Fu Tea. She is a former Kalamazoo Institute of Art student and has traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe, visiting nearly 30 art museums worldwide.
Emma credits her accounting teacher (Ms. Claybaugh) with getting her involved in DECA and inspiring her love of learning. Emma will attend the Broad School of Business at Michigan State University this fall, where she will be part of the Residential Business Community to engage with corporations, professors, and fellow students. She is majoring in Marketing to complete her MBA and work in one of the many fast-moving businesses in New York City.
