Nandini Patel
Nandini Patel is a senior at Westmoore High School in Oklahoma. She is heavily involved in Speech and Debate, Key Club International, and Chamber Choir. She is the Manager of a philanthropic initiative at her school called A Bucket At A Time, which strives to provide free period products for the over 1,200 female students at Westmoore High School. Nandini understands that the lack of access to period products in school restrooms is a serious equity issue that hinders students' ability to experience a worry-free education. She has championed this project and created awareness about period poverty by giving presentations at her school and community clubs such as Key Club and Rotary Club.
Nandini plans to pursue business entrepreneurship and earn a bachelor's degree. She hopes to continue participating in speech debate and community service in college. Her ultimate goal is to create a business that benefits society and serves others.
Ruth Bader Ginsberg, or "Notorious RBG" as she has been coined by Shana Knizhnik, was an American icon of epic proportions. As remembered by the American Bar Association, "It is undeniable that the late Justice Ginsburg transformed the legal profession, the Supreme Court, and the fabric of American society through her tireless advocacy for gender equity. She was a brilliant legal scholar who left a mark on American jurisprudence both in her role on the Court and as an advocate." NSHSS hopes to honor the blazing legacy of "Notorious RBG" by awarding ten (10) applicants with $1,000 each for their efforts to embody the spirit of RBG within their own communities.
