The many opportunities awarded to my daughter Morgan by the National Society of High School Scholars have been extraordinary. With Morgan being an only child, my husband and I didn’t know what to expect when she began the college application and scholarship process. To be frank, it was quite overwhelming with some ups and downs, but we tried our best to figure it out along the way. During her junior year of high school in 2007, she received the invitation to join NSHSS. Although I didn’t know anything about this Society, I remembered my daughter’s guidance counselor telling parents that you will never have to pay to join a “real” honor society. While that stuck out in my head as the first rule to follow, there was something that sparked my interest about this organization that recognized academic achievements and commitment to service. For a reason that I’ll never know, I decided to write out a $60 check and send it to NSHSS headquarters in Atlanta to secure Morgan’s membership. At the time, I didn’t realize that Morgan would be joining an organization that would change her life forever.

Aside from the many scholarship opportunities, Morgan joined a network of intelligent, hardworking and passionate students & professionals who continuously pushed her to achieve her full potential in high school, college and beyond. Despite having over 2 million members across the globe, NSHSS was committed to Morgan’s professional growth and provided her with various resources to help her achieve her goals.

Well, it has been nearly eight years since Morgan joined NSHSS and now, as a college graduate of Fordham University and an HR Business Partner at JPMorgan Chase in New York, she continues to remain involved with this exceptional organization. Morgan has been given several unique opportunities through NSHSS, which includes traveling to Stockholm, Sweden for Nobel Week 2013 and attending various events & conferences around the world where she can interact with senior business professionals. It has been an honor for my family to join the NSHSS community and I couldn’t be more proud that my daughter, Morgan Vazquez, is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
