NSHSS Social Emotional Learning in The Classroom Grant

Award: Five (5) awards of $1,500

Eligibility: Candidates must be educators currently working within a public or private high school in the United States or abroad. 

Grant Details: The World Health Organization (WHO) defines mental health as "a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community." Despite the stigma surrounding mental illness, more individuals are sharing their stories and sparking conversations on the subject. NSHSS wants to aid educators in their positive efforts to spread awareness and affect change regarding mental health in their classrooms. NSHSS is giving five (5) high school educators $1,500 grants to provide Social Emotional Learning (SEL) resources and curriculum to their classrooms.

Application Requirements:

  • Prompt response of 500 words to the following question:
    • Mental health is becoming a focus for educators in school, especially since the pandemic. Describe the resources you would purchase and the benefit they would bring to your students.
  • Color headshot
  • Professional resume
  • Principal/Administrator recommendation
