Casey Andrews

Casey Andrews (she/her) is the 9-12 ELA Curriculum Coordinator in Watertown Public Schools. She has a BA from Hampshire College, an MAT from Simmons College, and an MA in critical and creative thinking from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Casey started her teaching career at the elementary level in Santa Fe, NM, and then spent almost a decade teaching primarily 12th-grade English Language Arts in Boston, MA. Now in her third year as the 9-12 ELA Curriculum Coordinator in Watertown Public Schools, Casey focuses on decisions about texts as well as supporting teachers to expand their teaching practices.

In addition to her teaching and administrative experience, Casey is deeply involved in efforts to advance equity and anti-racism in schools. She initiated the Social Justice Trip for Watertown High School, a six-day experience for high school students to travel to Montgomery, AL, and to bring back their learning about activism and justice to their community.

This NSHSS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Teaching Grant is for educators who serve in rural areas, diverse student populations, or are actively promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives in their school or greater community.
