Grisell Santiago
Grisell has been working at P.K. Yonge since 2005, helping students with the Spanish Language and many other extracurricular activities in the school. She gathers a team of senior students every year to help mentor younger students, and the team teaches the younger students how to do research and write and deliver poems and impromptus. They work together to teach students about Global Culture and problems in the world and how they can get involved to help those in need (community service). Many of Grisell's students volunteer with the elementary school to teach cultural presentations and art representing the Hispanic Culture. She created a program in the school, the Global Scholar, to recognize all the work students do during high school which has helped them become more aware and respectful of other cultures and people. Grisell always works very hard with her students to ensure they are inclusive. One of their recent projects for the Hispanic Honor Society Club has been creating an online newspaper.
