Khandi Cooper
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Khandi A. Cooper serves as the new Principal/Teacher of Carolina Adventist Academy (CAA) in Whiteville, NC. She graduated in 2009 from AdventHealth University of Health Sciences (formerly Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences) in Orlando, Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. In 2016 she completed her Masters of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) from Concordia University-Portland. Currently, she is a Doctoral candidate for the Doctorate of Education in Leadership in Innovation and Continuous Improvement program at Concordia University-Wisconsin.
Prior to CAA, Khandi served as multi-grade (sixth through eighth) teacher at Elim Junior Academy in St. Petersburg, FL. Her students competed in the Adventist Robotics League in Collegedale, TN and received 3rd place in Core Values and the “Rising Star Award.”
She is the recipient of the 2018-2019 ACS-Hach Chemistry Classroom grant which funded her travel to the 25th Bi-ennial Conference on Chemistry Education. She has received the distinction as “Teacher of the Year'' for Haines City, Florida private schools presented by the Polk County Chamber of Commerce. Since 2018 Khandi has been a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association of Chemistry Teachers and the National Science Teaching Association. She served as the Tournament Director of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Adventist Robotics Tournament at Pine Forge Academy, while serving as the Chair of the Science Department.
In 2018, Khandi founded Stewart Robotics, LLC a education consultant and grant writing company which specializes in funding for S.T.E.M./Robotics programs for schools and private organizations. In addition, she serves as the Northeast Area Coordinator for Adventist Robotics With her enthusiasm for S.T.E.M., she is looking forward to introducing an innovative approach to education by preparing her students with 21st century skills. “CAA will begin a FIRST LEGO League Robotics club for all interested students. We are being intentional about equipping our students with skills needed to compete in the global market.”
NSHSS is providing 1 $500 grant to be used during 2025 to help defray costs of educational conference registration, travel, and accommodations.
