Robert holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Florida International University (FIU). He is currently a mathematics teacher at at School for Advanced Studies in Miami, FL. He is also working on a doctorate degree at FIU in the department of teaching and learning, with a focus on mathematics anxiety.

Robert loves teaching Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus AB and BC because he enjoys making calculus accessible to his students. Many students begin their journey in calculus with feelings of anxiety and despair. Robert strives to reduce his students' anxiety by using a variety of tools and techniques that appeal to all his students, while allowing them to feel comfortable exploring mathematical concepts. He values creating an inclusive class environment for his students to feel comfortable asking questions, collaborating, and exploring mathematics.

NSHSS is awarding five (5) $1,000 grants for Advanced Placement teachers to use for supplies, materials, field trips, or other supplemental aids to enhance the delivery of Advanced Placement courses. Any NSHSS Educator teaching an Advanced Placement course in any field is eligible to apply.
