Columbia University Member Event 2025
The day began bright and early on Saturday with a networking breakfast at Alfred Lerner Hall, setting the stage for meaningful connections before members gathered in the auditorium for the official welcome ceremony. Throughout the day, participants engaged in dynamic workshops, explored the College and Career Fair, and attended an exclusive session with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to learn about unique student opportunities. Members also enjoyed guided tours of the Columbia University campus. The event concluded with the inspiring NSHSS Member Recognition Ceremony, where students were celebrated on stage for their outstanding academic accomplishments.

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Event Check-In, Badge Pick-Up, & Networking Breakfast
Attendees checked in with a digital or printed copy of their tickets and received name badges in the Alfred Lerner Hall foyer. NSHSS provided a catered continental breakfast for all event participants.
9:00 AM – 2:00 PM: College & Career Fair
Attendees had the chance to gather information from College & Career Fair exhibitors.
10:00 AM - 10:15 AM: NSHSS Welcome to Columbia
NSHSS welcomed attendees to campus & kicked off the Columbia University Member Event with a warm welcome from our emcee, followed by special video messages from Columbia University. These videos captured the excitement, inspiration, and energy of the campus, setting the stage for a full day of celebration, learning, and connection.
10:15 AM - 10:45 AM: CollegeAdvisor.com - College Admissions Success in 2025 and Beyond”
CollegeAdvisor.com presented College Admissions Success in 2025 and Beyond, offering students and families valuable insights into the evolving admissions landscape. The session explored upcoming trends, strategies for building a standout application, and practical tips for navigating changes in higher education. Attendees walked away with actionable guidance to better prepare for the next steps in their college journey
10:45 AM - 11:15 AM: Horton Test Prep - “Secrets to Earning Scholarships: Unlock Your Future”

11:15 AM - 11:45 AM: HelloCollege – "S.A.F.E. – The Four Most Important Factors of College Selection”
HelloCollege presented S.A.F.E. – The Four Most Important Factors of College Selection, providing students with a clear framework to navigate the college decision-making process. Attendees explored key considerations such as fit, affordability, academics, and extracurricular opportunities, gaining practical guidance to make informed choices and confidently select the right college for their goals.
11:45 AM - 12:15 PM: NSLC – “Make the Most of Your Summer Vacation with NSLC”
NSLC presented Make the Most of Your Summer Vacation with NSLC, offering students strategies to turn their summer break into a meaningful and productive experience. Attendees learned about academic programs, leadership opportunities, and enrichment activities designed to develop skills, explore passions, and make the most of their time outside the classroom.
12:15 PM – 2:00 PM: Lunch Break & Campus Tour
Attendees visited nearby eateries for lunch on their own & enjoyed a self-guided tour of Columbia University.
2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Prequel - “AI As Your Co-Founder”
Prequel presented AI As Your Co-Founder, exploring how artificial intelligence can support entrepreneurship and innovation. Attendees learned practical strategies for leveraging AI tools to enhance projects, streamline workflows, and drive creative business ideas
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM: Columbia Pre-College Programs
Members learned about Columbia University’s Pre-College Programs, gaining insight into the wide range of academic and enrichment opportunities available before college. Attendees explored programs designed to challenge students, develop skills, and provide a taste of the collegiate experience at Columbia.
3:00 PM- 3:30 PM: Summery Discovery - "Propel Your Academic Future”
Summery Discovery presented Propel Your Academic Future, guiding students on strategies to plan and achieve their academic goals. Attendees explored tools and resources to strengthen their skills, set actionable objectives, and take steps toward a successful educational journey.
3:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Panel Discussion
Tony Betton, Jr. and Myr’lice’ Dickens shared their academic journeys, offering insights and practical tips for continuing education. They discussed strategies for success, answered questions from attendees, and inspired members with their experiences and achievements.
4:00 PM– 5:00 PM: Member Recognition Ceremony
The day concluded with the NSHSS Member Recognition Ceremony, honoring students for their academic achievements, leadership, and community contributions. Members were invited on stage to celebrate their successes, making it a memorable and inspiring close to the event.
