Not many people regret their decision to study abroad. Studying abroad is, understandably, something many students want to partake in while pursuing higher education. Living immersed in a culture that is not your own can teach you things about the world far beyond what any textbook can, all while providing you with memories and experiences you will cherish for many years to come.
Study Abroad for Engineering Studies
Typically, engineering programs have some of the more stringent graduation requirements which can make studying abroad seem like a distant dream for many engineering students. You shouldn’t discount the possibility of engineering study abroad programs that take place in the summer, though, which are a great way to earn some extra credits between semesters all while experiencing a new country and city.
Benefits of Studying Abroad Programs
Some students may see studying abroad as just an excuse to travel, but it can be an enriching experience that can better equip you for the job market. A study abroad program can be a great resume builder for a couple reasons. Learning a foreign language can enhance your career prospects and may put you ahead of your peers on the job market. Studying abroad can also be great for engineering students because it gives you the opportunity to learn about techniques used in other countries that you may not have been exposed to otherwise.
ECE Paris Engineering Study Abroad Program
At NSHSS we believe that studying abroad is an enriching and educational experience for many students and for that reason, we encourage and offer scholarships for many study abroad programs. Fortunately, this year NSHSS has partnered with ECE Paris, one of the top engineering schools in France, to offer free tuition for a summer engineering program in Paris to two NSHSS college members.
Students can apply to summer certificate programs in operating systems, web application development, augmented and virtual reality in our society, sensors, & network infrastructure, and energy & environment seminar which provide academic credits that can be transferred back to students’ home institutions.
Don’t be intimidated if you aren’t currently fluent in French because these summer courses at ECE Paris are taught in English. You will, however, be immersed in the French language in day-to-day life which is one of the best ways to fast track learning a language. You’ll likely leave France at the end of the summer with great French language skills.
