Iona Hutton
Iona Hutton is a dedicated student pursuing biomedical engineering with a strong passion for patient care. Iona chose to attend community college as a practical and strategic stepping stone toward her long-term goal as an aspiring physician.
Her volunteer efforts extend to working as a patient care student volunteer and an intern at Palomar Health, where she assists RNA and CNA staff with patient care. Iona was honored to be selected to be a part of The New York Academy of Sciences' 1000 Girls 1000 Futures program, receiving mentorship from female experts and works with peers on global competitions.
Iona is a proud Duke of Edinburgh International Award recipient, completing her final gold level in 2024. As a key component of the adventurous journey, she embarked on a 9-day backpacking trip in Yosemite National Park, covering 52 miles.
Additionally, in starting her first year of college, Iona continues to pursue excellence in her studies while concurrently allowing her to work part-time for her family's business. Iona was recently elected to serve as Vice President of her community college's Rotary Club, enjoys traveling with her family, exploring the outdoors, and loves to read dystopian/mystery novels.
