Jenny Arias Salazar
Jenny Arias Salazar is an undergraduate at the University of California, Irvine, majoring in Nursing Science. Jenny grew up in a rural town in Mexico but embraced the educational opportunity she found when she moved to Los Angeles, California. At UC Irvine, she is a member of Alpha Tau Delta, where she fundraises in support of people with Bone Marrow Cancer. Jenny also mentors high school students through their college application process. Jenny has also volunteered for the California Hospital Medical Center and is committed to increasing Latino and underprivileged representation in healthcare. For the past three years, Jenny has volunteered at a hospital where she developed her interest in the healthcare industry. Her goal is to become a NICU Nurse and become the next generation of healthcare providers willing to provide her community with the best quality healthcare services.
College can be challenging, from filling out financial aid, enrolling in classes, choosing a major, and making new friends. The NSHSS First Generation Scholarship recognizes first generation college students for their academic and leadership initiatives.
