Kaia Olson
Kaia is passionate about intersectional environmentalism, a field that combines her interests in education, multiculturalism, ecology, and stewardship. She states that her mission is to help repair humanity's connection to the planet. Already she is involved with several environmental organizations, working on projects to engage communities. Some of Kaia's past work has included writing articles, hosting climate summits, and assisting in creating a virtual reality education program. For her research on aquatic ecosystem health, she earned a first-place award at the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair and an International Science and Engineering Fair finalist for her project on restorative agriculture. She is an avid outdoors person and enjoys hiking, skiing, kayaking, and snorkeling. Kaia is attending Western Washington University for environmental science.
The NSHSS Foundation encourages environmental stewardship among high school students globally through the Foundation Earth Day Award. Students submit their environmental project they are working on currently, and provide details on the impact of the project in their communities and how it will impact the future.
