Lauren Huffstetler
Lauren Huffstetler founded an environmental conservation project, Pollinate Our Planet, which focuses on restoring pollinator habitat, and educating people about the important role pollinators play in securing our food supply. She's gotten several public pollinator gardens started in her community, and has handed out over 700 packets of free wildflower seeds. Her efforts have been recognized with a Girl Scout Gold Award and an AMVETS Gold Award Certificate. She was recently named VFW Scout of the Year by Post 10855. She will be attending Maryville College, and plans to pursue a triple major in Design, Marketing, and Outdoor Studies, with a minor in Sustainability Studies.
The NSHSS Foundation encourages environmental stewardship among high school students globally through the Foundation Earth Day Award. Students submit their environmental project they are working on currently, and provide details on the impact of the project in their communities and how it will impact the future.
