Margaret Haggerty is a community college student in Virginia who is finishing up her Associate of Science. She will transfer to a four-year university next year and is expected to graduate in 2026 with a bachelor's degree in biology, with a concentration in ecology or genetics. In high school, Margaret had the opportunity to volunteer with the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, doing fieldwork and working in their Water Quality Lab. After university, she hopes to research and preserve ecosystems heavily impacted by climate change. In addition to biology, she loves linguistics and language learning and has studied Spanish and Modern Standard Arabic. Outside of academics, Margaret loves reading, writing, and solving puzzles. She lives at home with her fantastic parents and amazing siblings, who she could not have done any of this without.
