Deidra Hall

Homeschool
Pawcatuck, CT

Deidra Hall is a homeschool student who has held leadership roles on her robotics team and speech and debate club. Deidra enjoys mentoring underclassmen to prepare them for leadership positions. As captain of her speech and debate club and head debate instructor, she successfully coached all of her students to qualify for competition at the regional championship. This past year, Deidra started and coached a FIRST LEGO League team which earned two awards in its first season as well as qualifying to compete at the State Championship. Since homeschoolers have limited access to STEM activities, Deidra partnered with 4-H to bring LEGO robotics to this underserved group. Deidra desires to pair her technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and leadership to advocate for those who are differently-abled. This fall, she will seek a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. She hopes to obtain a job where she can create devices intended to help people with limited mobility and improve their quality of life. She plans to seek opportunities to lead in campus organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers as well as try out for the varsity debate team.
