Neo Phuchane is a senior at Reseda Charter High School. He is interested in pursuing biotechnology and surgery. He also has a strong passion for psychology, placing third in California at the 2022 HOSA competition under the behavioral health category. He is the founder of Sanity, a club at his school that promotes meditation and mental health, working with international organizations, including Mind Stories and the World Peace Initiative. He is also the founder of his school’s Model United Nations team and has served as president all four years of high school.
Additionally, he serves as captain of his school’s Academic Decathlon team. A characteristic he values most about himself is his creativity, as it is something he seeks in every facet of his life. Whether experimenting with a new sample when making a beat, creating a recombinant plasmid in the lab, or crafting the perfect argument in Model United Nations, he always strives to explore the unconventional when solving problems.
The NSHSS Research and Academic Paper Scholarship recognizes students for their excellence in written academic papers as class assignments in high school, such as a research paper, an original essay, or an analytical paper.
