Claes Nobel Good Earth Award

Eligibility: NSHSS Ambassadors and Student Council members who graduate high school between 2016-2022

Award: USD $500 - USD $1,000 awards at NSHSS Scholar’s Day Atlanta 2020. 

Description: NSHSS co-founder Claes Nobel, senior member of the Nobel Prize family, strongly believes in recognizing those outstanding young people who go above and beyond for the good of others and the good of the Earth. In celebration of Mr. Claes' belief, NSHSS will award USD $500- USD $1,000 grants to NSHSS ambassadors and student council members who demonstrate an exemplary commitment and passion for environmental protection and humanitarian support within their community, school, or workplace. Recipients of this award will be asked to present their projects at NSHSS Scholar's Day Atlanta November 20-21, 2020.

Applicants must plan, organize, and execute a specific activity that contains two important elements: (1) Spreading awareness for NSHSS and the importance of recognizing young scholars and (2) Incorporating Claes Nobel's belief that young people have the power to preserve the Earth, promote peace, and change the world. 

Award Disbursement: Recipients will be expected to exhibit at the event and share their project with attendees. Recipients must be present at Scholar’s Day to receive their award checks. Recipients also receive a complimentary ticket to attend the event.

Application Requirements

1.  A 500-word personal statement in response to the following: Mr. Claes Nobel said: “I hope soon, you shall gain a new world view that fosters global stability and the cultivation of love and virtue.” What do you think Mr. Claes meant by this statement and what does it mean to you personally? 

2. A visual aid or presentation in the format of: 

  1. PowerPoint 

  2. Poster Board

  3. Video

3. A comprehensive document that includes: 

  1. Details describing the activity you organized 

  2. The purpose of the activity

  3. Participants 

  4. Any challenges you had to overcome before completion of the activity

  5. Who aided in its success (other classmates, volunteers, etc), and 

  6. How you actively raised awareness for environmental health or promoting the welfare of others in your community, school, or workplace using environmentally conscious methods or practices. 

  7. How you incorporated spreading awareness for NSHSS

  8. Any leadership roles you acquired while furthering your initiative. 

  9. What you learned from participating in this project
