Amy Keliher
I am heading into my 29th year of teaching English at Slinger High School. I served as the Yearbook Adviser for 25 years, and as the Student Council Adviser for the past eight years. My service-learning experience has earned me the State Superintendent's Service-Learning Award, a Herb Kohl Teacher Excellence Award, a two-time Teacher of the Year Award, and the Milwaukee Brewers Grand Slam Teacher of the Month. My greatest passion is serving the community, and for years I have organized a Fall Yard Cleanup, Senior Citizen Dinner, Santa Sitters, served meals for the homeless at Milwaukee Rescue Mission, planned a back to school festival, and I am a charter member for Slinger Kiwanis Club. I teach American Literature, College Writing, and World Literature, and I am an adjunct for UW Oshkosh's CAPP dual-college credit program. I am married and have two adult children who work in health care.
NSHSS is always looking to find ways to support our network of educators, especially those who are constantly looking to support their students. To help offset the financial burden, NSHSS is giving four (4) high school educators $500 grants to help provide additional opportunities to their students and classrooms.
