My name is Ashley Randolph. I am originally from Ohio and have lived in North Carolina for ten years now. I relocated to Asheville last year and began teaching in Marion last August. I really enjoy living in the mountains, hiking, and kayaking in my free time. I teach physical science and biology at McDowell Academy for Innovation. I am passionate about science education and giving my students the opportunity to engage with the content as much as possible. Authentic hands-on experiences with the content help to increase student understanding and excitement about the subject. I think that experiments, discussions, collaboration, and critical thinking are all crucial elements of a science classroom. I select supplies for these activities from the grocery store that are recognizable and that will result in memorable experiences, such as Oreos, Peeps, and antacids. I plan labs frequently and appreciate the freedom to purchase supplies that run out often when I need them.
