Ashley Randolph

McDowell Academy for Innovation
Marion, NC

Ashley Randolph is originally from Ohio and has lived in North Carolina for 10 years. She relocated to Asheville last year and began teaching in Marion last August. Ashley enjoys living in the mountains, hiking, and kayaking in her free time. She teaches physical science and biology at McDowell Academy for Innovation. Ashley is passionate about science education and allows her students to engage with the content as much as possible. Authentic hands-on experiences with the content help to increase student understanding and excitement about the subject. Experiments, discussions, collaboration, and critical thinking are all crucial elements of a science classroom. Ashley selects supplies for these activities from the grocery store that are recognizable, such as Oreos, Peeps, and antacids, and result in memorable experiences. She plans labs frequently and appreciates the freedom to purchase supplies that run out often when she needs them.
