Elise Knable
Elise Knable has been a CTE educator in Delaware for 13 years and currently teaches the ARVED program at Caesar Rodney High School. In her tenure with the state of Delaware as an educator, she has developed a curriculum for Design Technology that has been implemented in many high schools throughout the state. Her degrees in Media and Film, paired with CTE Education, allow her to provide a project-based learning pathway that empowers students through learning audio and video production applied to hands-on projects. Her students produce a weekly news broadcast on YouTube and develop videos for local businesses and organizations. The ARVED program at CR is the only Delaware program working with PBS Student Reporting Labs to bring stories from local area youth to the national spotlight. Her students have earned accolades across the country for their work. As an educator, Knable was recognized for her work by the Delaware Federation of Women’s Press, was the recipient of received the University of Delaware HORN Entrepreneurship Innovative Educator’s Grant in 2019, the Delaware STEM Educator award in 2020, and was named the Teacher of the Year for CR High School for the 2020-2021 school year.
The Educator of the Year Awards are presented annually to exemplary educators who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to preparing students for success in college and in life. These awardees model best practices in teaching or administration inside and outside of the classroom, are peer role models, and demonstrate outstanding leadership and excellence in education. Any NSHSS Educator teaching high school has the opportunity to apply.
