Jina Baartman
My name is Jina Baartman and I am the High School Special Education Teacher and Case Manager at RTR Public School located in rural Southwest Minnesota. I am in my 11th year teaching special education, but this is my 26th year of being a teacher!
I provide direct instruction in math, reading, written expression, employability and transition skills to 9th-12 special education students. It is truly an honor and joy to do so! I also supervise my paraprofessional team.
In 1994, I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a licensure in secondary social sciences from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota. In 2012, I received my Masters Degree in specific learning disabilities and emotional behavioral disabilities from Minnesota State University in Moorhead, Minnesota. I have taught in a variety of settings during my 26 years, including private schools, project-based and online charter schools, as well as the public school setting. I love being in education and making a positive impact on the lives of my students.
NSHSS is always looking to find ways to support our network of educators, especially those who are constantly looking to support their students. To help offset the financial burden, NSHSS is awarding fifteen (15) high school educators $500 grants to help provide additional opportunities to their students and classrooms.
