Latasha Sheffield
Latasha Sheffield is in her twelfth year in education and second year as a computer science and engineering teacher at Athol High School in Athol, Massachusetts. She currently sponsors Academic Decathlon, Mock Trial, Science Fair, Plant the Moon, and cosponsors the Class of 2028. Mrs. Sheffield is passionate about providing extracurriculars for students, especially those that are academically-oriented. She believes that students who prefer academics over athletics are often overlooked at the high school level, and she works hard to make sure those students have a voice and opportunity. Mrs. Sheffield will be using her grant to purchase competition polos for her Academic Decathlon team and blazers and neckties/cross ties for her Mock Trial team. The clothing serves as a team uniform, providing identity and showing the students that they are important representatives of our school and district!
Clubs and extracurricular activities allow students to develop leadership skills and find ways to contribute meaningfully to their community. Club advisors and sponsors often support these clubs with their own funds or through fundraising activities. To support our outstanding educators and the clubs they oversee, NSHSS is giving two (2) high school educators a $500 grant to help provide additional opportunities to their student clubs.
