Lisa Balazs
Lisa McLeod Balazs is a middle school STEM teacher at Magic City Acceptance Academy. She has been teaching for more than 20 years and loves engaging middle school students in projects that get them outside. Lisa holds a Master's in Secondary Education and an undergraduate degree in Geology and has completed advanced studies in Planetary Geophysics. What she loves most about teaching is when students have those "lightbulb moments" and see the connections between the natural world and the math they are learning.
Clubs and extracurricular activities allow students to develop leadership skills and find ways to contribute meaningfully to their community. Club advisors and sponsors often support these clubs with their own funds or through fundraising activities. To support our outstanding educators and the clubs they oversee, NSHSS is awarding ten (10) NSHSS Educators a $500 grant to help provide additional opportunities to their student clubs.
