Melissa Beyel
Melissa Beyel is the Teacher-Librarian at the East Cooper Center of Advanced Studies. She manages and maintains a state-of-the-art Fab Lab maker space area in which students and teachers may visit to learn, collaborate, and embark on creative personal ventures using my resources and supplies. All of these wonderful resources, however, require many different technologies, applications, and materials to be able to produce the wonderful projects her students and teachers create, and activities they participate in every day on a regular basis. Melissa strongly believes that all of her patrons should not have to burden themselves or their families with having to pay out-of-pocket for the consumables and technologies they utilize here. Teachers spend a good portion of their pay to fund student projects, which she feels is wrong. Melissa's fundamental goal as a Librarian is to provide her patrons with what they need to fulfill their goals and enrich their minds and lives.
NSHSS is always looking to find ways to support our network of educators, especially those who are constantly looking to support their students. To help offset the financial burden, NSHSS is giving four (4) high school educators $500 grants to help provide additional opportunities to their students and classrooms.
