The Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships and National Scholar Awards application and other NSHSS scholarships will open online in the member dashboard in the next few weeks - you may wish to start gathering the information you will need: personal statement about your goals and accomplishments and a resume of awards, honors, leadership activities, service activities, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Be thinking of an educator to provide a recommendation for you, and how to request your transcript. New: 2014 Earth Day Awards
Are you are being a steward of the earth and partaking in environmental initiatives to better your community? The 2014 Earth Day Awards are now open for you to share your environmental initiatives.
Captain Planet Foundation is sponsoring (10) $500 Earth Day 2014 Awards for high school students who are implementing environmental stewardship programs or projects in the communities where they live and attend school. Students will demonstrate leadership and commitment to the environment through programs or projects that promote innovation and inspire others.
Guideline and the online application are accessible through the NSHSS Foundation at: http://nshssfoundation.org/earth-day-2014/. The deadline is Friday, February 28, 2014.

The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Scholarships

With nearly 50 years of experience in teaching people how to be responsible and competent wilderness leaders and travelers, NOLS has become the leader in wilderness education. Each NOLS course focuses on technical outdoor skills, leadership development, environmental studies and ethics, as well as risk management. An educated and passionate team of instructors leads each NOLS course, providing students with the resources they need to learn and excel during their course. The leadership developed on a NOLS course stays with graduates for the rest of their lives, enhancing their ability to interact with peers and lead in any type of situation. Students on NOLS courses learn skills that are extremely transferrable to the front country and everyday life. NOLS and the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) have teamed up to provide a unique way to further the education and leadership development of high school scholars. NOLS is a great way to continue education and learn more about leadership development in a non-traditional manner. NSHSS members are encouraged to apply for a NOLS course as a way to broaden their educational and leadership horizons. As a NSHSS member, students will receive certain discounts towards NOLS courses. The standard NOLS $65 application fee is waived for all NSHSS members. All members automatically receive a $150 partial scholarship for NOLS courses. Additionally there are two full tuition scholarships available for NSHSS members, for NOLS summer courses (courses that run between May 15-Aug. 1), one sponsored by NOLS and the other by the NSHSS.

In order to support standout students who academically persevered while experiencing bullying, and for those who have led anti-bullying efforts in their schools and communities, Abercrombie & Fitch is launching an ongoing college scholarship program through the NSHSS Foundation.
