October Scholarship Update

Nobel Week Travel Scholarship!

Stockholm University is inviting NSHSS members to apply to participate in the Nobel Week festivities in Sweden, and NSHSS is providing $1,500 travel grants for five of those selected to travel from the U.S. to Stockholm, Sweden, December 6-12, 2015. All NSHSS members are eligible to apply. The grant funds can be used for airfare to Stockholm and other expenses related to the event. You must be selected to the event to be considered for the scholarship. Apply for the event and scholarship together in your member dashboard under “Events.” Deadline to apply to participate in the event and scholarship deadline: October 9, 2015. 

National Center for Civil and Human Rights Symposium Essay Competition

NSHSS and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights will co-host an interactive symposium, “Finding Inspiration Inside: Recognizing Character, Realizing Potential,” for 120 NSHSS high school and college scholars on Saturday, November 14, 2015, in Atlanta, GA. Participants will explore character traits and leadership styles of Nobel Peace Laureates. During interactive sessions, they will reflect on their own potential to become social change agents, able to inspire and influence others. Students will participate in docent-led tours of the Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum, with particular focus on “The Meaning of the Nobel Peace Prize” exhibit. Students who wish to register to attend the symposium are required to submit an essay related to the symposium topic. Five $1,000 prizes, sponsored by The TAPO Institute, will be awarded for the winning student essays. Apply for the symposium and scholarship together in your member dashboard under “Events.” Deadline to apply to participate in the event and scholarship deadline: October 16, 2015. 

NSHSS DECA Entrepreneurial Scholar Award

The DECA-Claes Nobel Entrepreneurial Scholar Award is open to NSHSS students who are also DECA members and who intend to pursue a college major in marketing, finance, hospitality or business. The $1,000 scholarship is open to high school juniors and seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Applicants may be U.S. or international students. A total of three (3) scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded and presented to scholars at the DECA International Career Conference, April 23-26, 2016, in Nashville, Tennessee. The application will be in your member dashboard. Deadline: November 30, 2015.
