Marcelo is a freshman at Drexel University and graduated from MaST Community Charter School with a notable 3.8 GPA. Throughout high school, he excelled academically and actively engaged in extracurricular activities by participating in soccer for all four years and founding the high school's golf club. As president of the eSports club and a volunteer at the Police Athletic League Golf Camp for eight summers, he demonstrated leadership and a commitment to community involvement. Hailing from a tight-knit middle-class family facing financial challenges, he, his father, mother, and younger sister navigated these difficulties with resilience and determination. 
 
His current academic focus is pursuing an engineering degree specializing in environmental engineering. Motivated by a passion for science and a deep concern for the planet, he aspires to address pressing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, and resource depletion. His goal is to contribute meaningfully to tackling these challenges by acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in environmental engineering. This choice reflects his commitment to positively impacting global ecological issues.
