With stress and anxiety on the rise, mental health issues in youth and adults are rising at an alarming rate. Additionally, with the recent pandemic, these numbers are increasing even more. In May 2020, the United Nations warned that the Coronavirus Pandemic could cause a global mental health crisis with children and young people being the most vulnerable (Kelland, 2020). The key problem is that many kids are not properly equipped to manage feelings such as stress, anxiety, and worries. They are often told to calm down or take a breath, but in truth, they have never been taught how to do so. Mindfulness has been scientifically proven to help treat children and adolescents with conditions such as anxiety, stress, depression, ADHD, and autism. With research in children and teens growing, Mindfulness can be a beneficial tool to help kids better manage their thoughts and feelings.
