About Johns Hopkins University Summer Programs

The Office of Summer and Intersession Programs at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) offers rigorous Summer and Intersession courses and programs to highly-qualified pre-college students, visiting undergraduates, and current Johns Hopkins students. JHU offers three distinct summer programs:

Discover Hopkins (2-weeks) programs are intensive, hands-on pre-college courses designed to expose you to topics from different perspectives. Courses are taught by leading experts, and feature guided excursions to nearby attractions. Students must be 15 to 17 years old to participate, and can earn one (1) university credit per session.

Mini Term (2-weeks) offers the benefits of the Summer University program with the courses condensed into two intensive weeks. Both pre-college and undergraduate students can earn up to two (2) university credits during each term.

Summer University (5-weeks) offers qualified pre-college and undergraduate students the opportunity to take freshman- and sophomore-level credit classes in arts, sciences and engineering. With over 100 courses being offered this summer, your schedule is about choice. Must be at least 16 years old by June 30, 2018 to participate, and can earn up to seven (7) university credits.

Humanities Overnight Program includes opportunities to learn more about the humanities experience at Hopkins, sit in on classes, meet current professors and experts in their fields, and attend a college essay writing workshop led by our admissions office and faculty from one of our humanities departments. We are asking counselors and teachers to nominate academically strong juniors with an interest in the humanities for this program. These should be promising students you feel would thrive in an academic culture like ours. To nominate a humanities student for this opportunity, submit this nomination form.
