Sydney’s climate and stunning landmarks, along with our reputation and world rankings, are just some of the reasons international students flock to The University of Sydney. Australia was built on welcoming people from different countries and cultures onto our shores.
Today, the University of Sydney carries on that tradition by encouraging international students to explore one of the world’s most livable cities while studying at one of the world’s top 50 universities. Our campus is the oldest in Australia, but our facilities are some of the most modern, including the stunning Charles Perkins Centre and the new Business School development. Our wide range of subjects means you can customize your degree to fit with your interests and ambitions.
But we’re not just about studying. We’ll encourage you to take time to explore Sydney’s sandy beaches and iconic landmarks, such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Our campuses have welcoming social events, with clubs and societies, entertainment venues and sporting facilities all ready to indulge your hobbies and interests. We also offer many orientation events to help you settle in and make new friends. Whatever you choose, our extensive student support services will be there to support you every step of the way.
We have a great Mates Abroad and social events program where students are paired with likeminded, enthusiastic local student mentors to ease their transition into Sydney life, create new friendships, and share exciting adventures in Australia together. Every study abroad student is invited to opt-in to this program via email at the beginning of their semester abroad. With help of our local mentors, we coordinate social events such as a Sydney harbour cruise, breakfast with koalas, Aussie football game, surf camp, city tours, and tons of BBQs!
