More than 1,000 NSHSS members and guests gathered in the heart of New York City on the Columbia University campus to honor members for their outstanding academic achievements. After networking over breakfast and coffee, attendees assembled to hear a presentation from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) about career opportunities for students. The morning continued with an information session hosted by Columbia University Pre-College Programs. After lunch, attendees took advantage of an NSHSS chapter development workshop, hosted by NSHSS leadership; an essay-writing workshop, hosted by Prompt; and an information session on the advantages of taking a gap year, hosted by Education First. The afternoon session also featured a college & career fair. Members and guests gathered in the afternoon for the highlight of all NSHSS member events–the Member Recognition Ceremony. During the ceremony, attendees recognized NSHSS Educators of Distinction for their excellent work in guiding and educating young people. Attendees also heard about NSHSS CEO and President, Mr. James Lewis’s new book, College Admission: How to Get Into Your Dream School–Real Students, Real Stories. Finally, each member was awarded an honor medallion on stage in recognition of their hard-won academic achievements.
